Immigration or "Slavary" rules
on: Mon 01 of Sep, 2008 [17:45 UTC]
I found the following story in Saudi Gazette. This is not only applied to OFWs, but to all non Saudi workers. Even Saudi themselves are victims of slavary systems ruling in that Kingdom ( similar to all middle east countries )

" Kafeel System " in Saudi to be canceled ?
on: Sat 26 of Jul, 2008 [16:51 UTC]
Saudi government announced new regulations for sponsorship , and implements new penalties for those mis-use this system hurting foreign workers under their sponsorship

Such penalties and fines will cover cases of delayed salary , maltreatment of workers and many other violations

A new section called "expatriate care section" , in department of labor , will be handling these issues

Those reforms were a response to reports from Saudi Human Rights league, that were reported to the Royal office. They recommended and urged DOLE establish to open branches of the "expatriate care section"in different cities

Women finally get to drive in KSA !!
on: Sat 26 of Jul, 2008 [15:53 UTC]
Women in Saudi have been banned from driving since ever , as well as being banned from other human rights in such countries where Man is the Lord!

At last the government discovered that it wasn't legal or religious that kept women from driving, but they believed the society and custom weren't quite ready for a drastic change ( and I think it will take very long time to be ready! )

Women like prisoners used to move in the custody of men ,father, husband, brother or even a driver .They were provided transportation services to go to the schools and shops and relatives.

It seems like that scenario will be a change very soon, as the ban has been lifted and it's just a matter of months for the new rule to be implemented! ( Believe or not! )

Again with the government's public acknowledgment that women will be given their rights to drive, there are still some problems to overcome. Currently, there is no proper channel for women to get licenses as the government separates offices for men and women.

We shall wait and see , it's worth to wait!
So Ladies, Get ready to fasten your seat belt!

The other side of this change :
- Bad news for drivers , as thousand of them will loose their jobs
- Also thousands of foreign female workers will be replaced by Saudi women

Common mistakes in your Resume
on: Sat 19 of Jul, 2008 [17:56 UTC]
Resumes
I found that more than 40% of Resumes for semi-skilled and even skilled candidates , are full of mistakes :

1- Detailed Personal information : as if the Resume is a personal profile .. Remember Resume is not a personal profile where you have to list all your personal information. Most employers ( if not relevant or important to the position they offer ) do not care if you are married or single, if you have children and how many, .. etc

2- Old Jobs : Many times I read Resumes where applicants mentioned old jobs that are not related to the position they apply for. A medical technologist worked as janitor, mentioning that will not help him when applying as medical Tech , but may hurt him and let him loose the job

3- Very long Resumes: will make the employer miss important things in your resume as most of them spent less than 1 minute reading any resume
